We have a list of tourist activities around town we have been trying to get around to experiencing.

We finally got around to getting up to the city's tourist port to take an evening boat "cruise." For a few bucks you get to experience the sights of Phnom Penh's riverside from a different vantage point. As you look on from the boat's roof at sunset, you get to take in the contrasts that make up this city: the traffic in the city and the small fishing boats in the river, the development next to the poverty, the modern mixing with the traditional, the gilded royal palace surrounded by all the concrete towers. Not a bad way to spend the evening!
