I (Lauren) remember the first time I ate a banana that had ripened on the tree. I was in Central America, and the taste was incomparable to any banana I had ever eaten in the US. Any of you who have traveled to the tropics know how good the fruit is. As summer is starting to fade in the northern hemisphere, we are not sad about heading to South East Asia where lovely fruit like below is bountiful year round.

This is a plate of food we had each morning (in what was the dead of winter in the US). Starting at the top left, going clockwise: mango, watermelon, dragon fruit, papaya, pineapple, and bananas in the middle.
